try a darker boarder, like the door frame (or whatever in the background) There are already some really interesting squares and I think the white competes, visually, with the fish. Otherwise the composition is very nice.

To answer your forum question, I think you entered the right one. The crop was unusual, but it worked for me and was interesting. I gave it a 6. I can see from the breakdown that a lot of people were ho-hum about it, however. I don't think I would have voted better for the outtake, but you may have gotten fewer of the really low votes and averaged better with it.
