Valley of Elkby SandyPComment by jomari: Love the tiers of interest - the river, ice bank, textured grass overhanging, the multitude of elk completely dwarfed by that huge mountain - a beautiful shot. |

Valley of Elkby SandyPComment by blad: yes! a sight to behold! you have gracefully combined several images into one-the trees-the herd-the grass-and the river edge. the focus for me is the grass edge with all it's texture and flow. the overcast mutes and softens the image perfectly and allows for an excellent transition to the main subject-the herd.
simply a beautiful photograph with no tricks. |

Destination in Sightby SandyPComment by NstiG8tr: Awesome shot Sandy. Just a little advice when shooting in the snow, bump the exposure compensation up about 1/3-2/3 depending on how bright it is. This will take care of the greyness in the scene and leave you with crisp white snow and clouds. |

Sandy, Lora, Kristinby SandyPComment by NstiG8tr: Being a longtime Texan, I knew winter wonderlands like this existed, I just had no idea how cool it would be to be IN one :)
I grew up in Texas and moved away when I was 30 to live in NE Iowa. Believe me when I say winter wonderlands are awesome to visit but they get old really fast when you have deal with them year after year. I still love to sit and watch it snow because the flakes are so mesmerizing and delicate but I hate cleaning it up afterwards. |
