Falling Waterby Kha0SComment by alanbataar: Ooo, so close -- this is almost a fabulous image. Your approach is sort of in between techniques: fast shutter to capure the droplets or slow shutter to make the falling water look as smooth as silk. Either way, definitely a tripod and timer/cable release is the way to go. |

Falling Waterby Kha0SComment by cghubbell: There is not enough contrast between the water and the lower material it is spilling over. The image also appears blurred as though taken by hand at a slow shutter speed. |

At The Ice Cream Standby Kha0SComment by Kha0S: Thanks for the comments, everyone...
It was actually a candid shot... I had gone out for ice cream with my girlfriend and my friend Scott. He had just received his order at the next window over when I thought that the textures of the wall, floor, and his feet made a very traditional feeling composition, and snapped off a shot.
I post-processed it a good bit to give it a definite "aged" feel, but without the sort of cliche sepia or a simple vingette. The image in my head when I composed it was definitely a muted, thick, brush-stroked feel ala Rockwell (good catch, irispetra).

Phone Homeby Kha0SComment by K-Rob: Well, you almost achieved your goal of the brown ribbon. But I think this picture is much better than the score. Yes, it's strange looking and won't appeal to a lot of people but I personally this it's great. By the way, I love the His & Hers pic in your portfolio. |
