Queen Anne's Laceby scrum8Comment by Cantique: Simple and effective. Very peaceful image. And the sharp focus on the plant and snow is well set off from the dreamy background. |

To see the Simple Thingsby scrum8Comment by Imagineer: Didn't vote but this is really nice. Just shows that what we ignore every day is actually interesting when we apply more scrutiny. A good point well made.

Ooh Aahby scrum8Comment by Arcanist: Originally placed in the mid-range holder, this image is very strong for the mood and essence of candid (even if it is not the typical subject-human). Most of the whites are textured, and not lost by blowout exposure, although the hind end of the bird could use a bit more detail or curve, it is not distracting. The neck however is overexposed on top. Some slight burning in selected areas and this would be finessed. I like it and am bumping from a 5 to a 7. |

To see the Simple Thingsby scrum8Comment by dr rick: Seeing is what photography is all about, and this is a good example. The leaf is interesting and its contrasting setting here works well. |

Ooh Aahby scrum8Comment by Dr.Confuser: It may be that you won't agree with me, but in my mind \"candid\" implies a photograph of a person at a candid (i.e. unaware of the camera) moment. So, to that way of thinking, this doesn't really meet the challenge. That being said, I like the way you've captured the ice. |

Thanks Geewhy. I thought it would do better also. It was interesting that it it received so many comments for the high end of the mid-packers. It was one of those photos which I liked, but had second thoughts about submitting it because my taste isn't always mainstream. Thanks again. |
