P a i n t e d H i l l s by JeffDayComment: What a great place to get lost in yourself. I've really been wanting to take a gander out that way... How long of a drive from Portland?
Sad about the yellow flowers but Oregon is weird that way. Our fruit trees didn't produce this year :( |

D15: Feline Flowerby cginoComment: I like the shadows and streaks of bright light, without it the photo would lose it's seemingly artistic egde. |

Day 46: Funny Furry Facesby cginoComment: Wowzers, crazy katz!
I love these assembled images. I have a few of my own on deviantART, maybe I should upload them here as well... 3rd row down, 3rd across is my favorite of the bunch. |

The Wave by TLL061Comment: CPL? A bit too dark and dramatic for my taste.
The lines can really pop out with just a bit of tweaking... like so ->

First off, congratulations on your new baby! I remember those first days very vaguely, funny how our minds only remember them sleeping like this and not of them crying their lungs out, hehe :) Has got me and my wife thinking about making another one and Alexander is not even 5 years old :P
I am not really fond of the way you did convert it to b/w though, did you use the channel mixer and a lot of the red channel and very little of the green and blue channels?
Kind regards from Iceland, Lárus. |
Thanks! Maybe I just make quiet babies but she doesn't really cry that much :)
5 years is a good age difference, the older sibling is more understanding and very helpful. I couldn't imagine having mine closer together.
To answer your question, yes I did use the channel mixer in monochrome just as you said. Danika was broken out with milia at the time of the picture and converting it any other way made the pimples too prominent. There was only a bit of burning on the edges of the photo to increase the "moodiness".
Thanks for the critique. |

Aside from that this is a very nice portrait. |
