Shall We Dance ...by scuzzaComment: Great capture, spoiled only a little by some haloing around your subject, probably due to shadow/highlight, etc. Love the cormorants(?) |

Paradise lost and regainedby LevTComment: Good composition. If this is in the Indian ocean where the tsunami hit, then I wonder if a better layout would have been to evoke more thought through the use of water rather than cloud (nice and featured though that is). Therefore pointing the camera downwards showing an expanse of ocean with the island at the top. Getting low to the waves would enhance that ominous feeling of what once occured here. |

Untitledby welcherComment: Like the candid pose and treatment. Slightly too hot in places which is a shame because this is near perfect otherwise. A great child portrait - so superior to those typical, nauseating studio shots. |

Homeless Manby bobdaveantComment: Nice portrait. These smiling eyes bely an inevitably more troubled history than it appears. I feel the crop is a little tight, but I should imagine this has something to do with the limits of on-screen presence - and size has much to do with that when it comes to faces.
Brave shot which takes conviction to pull off. |

Feeding Time Back at The Ranchby chozenfrozenComment: I love this one. It's no technical masterpiece but I believe more value should be placed on this moment in time caught so nicely, than the ususal super-smooth perfection everyone seems to gag for here at DPC.
Well observed. |

Road and Bridgeby MichaelsComment: What a fantastic shot which has suffered only from oversharpening. The viewpoint and lighting is beautifully used here with a masterful composition.
It's a shame about the 'grain', but what's wrong with grain anyway?? A very refreshing photograph indeed.

Doom Watch by ImagineerComment: Lowell - I agree that digital editing is sometimes very disappointing when it's abused. However, in defence of this particular shot it was one (as acknowledged above) which was a victim of very poor light. This photo is all about the subject, his stance and character. This was the basis of my shot and the element which I wished to capture above all else. In this instance, despite an equally purist stance on most editing (which helps me take better pictures), I accepted that the out-of-camera shot would need my help in post-processing to achieve my vision. |
