The white thing is something attached to the microphone... in fact, I did pretty well to get a shot of her where her face wasn't right behind it.

I very much don't like the posterised effect, unless the original has some really bad flaws, I think it would look much better as a high-contrast b&w.

I didn't tick Konador's comment below, as the title I chose for this photo was supposed to have a certain irony to it... traditionally you say 'sweet dreams' to children before they go to sleep and dream of nice fluffy things, this picture has more of an edge to it!
I think this irony may have been lost on many people.
I understand that the red was not for everyone, but I find the colour quite 'primal', and Dr. Jones' comment realised a little of my intention when he said it had a peep-show element to it. That wasn't quite what I was aiming for, but I do think that this deep red has a certain link to an instinctive animal sexuality... or at least that's what I was aiming for.
I'll never figure out DPC though, I thought this would get a higher score than 5.2, but I really like my shot and stand by it.

Very nice photo, and one of my favourites this challenge. My wife plays the cello, so I have a particular affinity for this one. Nice idea to selectively desaturate, and the result works well if a little unflattering to her skin tone. Her pose is relaxed and her body shape and size complements the cello perfectly. Great lighting, and good composition.
