The Cellby LoViComment: Didn't I just see this in the freestudy? I'll presume it is from a different member who visited the same place. |

Beautiful little Faithby Sammy05Comment: A cute kid. The lighting is good and the shot is razor sharp. Her expression isn't the most endearing I've ever seen on a child, but not terrible either. I don't feel the composition works for a portrait like this, however. The kid is way off to the side, and part of her hair is cut off at frame edge. I'm not sure if that aspect of framing was intentional or not. I've done some out of balance entries myself, but for me it just doesn't seem to work for this one. Sorry. |

Ghost Riderby twmaxComment: A fun shot, but I can see why the DPC collective might not go for it. |

Allayahby DenielleComment: I think the issue you had with this one is she is standing in shadows, but bright sunlight is striking the concrete pylon. Our eyes can see that kind of dynamic range, but the camera cannot. One thing that could help is (if you aren't already doing so) to shoot in RAW. This gives you more of a fudge factor and can allow you to pull in some highlight and shadow details that saving in JPG would throw due to default settings. Some might say to expose properly in the first place, but sometimes you'll miss the moment by fussing with settings.
This pic of mine was severely underexposed and dark. I had accidentally set my exposure compensation way down and didn't realize it. After the group shot, I realized it. Fortunately, I shot in RAW and was able to adjust the exposure enough to save the shot. It's a little grainier than it otherwise would have been, but still plenty acceptable and they were pleased with it.
