It's just the processing. I didn't like the look of the original, so I edited till I was satisfied. LOL. I like how it turned out, though.

One thing that could help is (if you aren't already doing so) to shoot in RAW. This gives you more of a fudge factor and can allow you to pull in some highlight and shadow details that saving in JPG would throw due to default settings. Some might say to expose properly in the first place, but sometimes you'll miss the moment by fussing with settings.

This pic of mine was severely underexposed and dark. I had accidentally set my exposure compensation way down and didn't realize it. After the group shot, I realized it. Fortunately, I shot in RAW and was able to adjust the exposure enough to save the shot. It's a little grainier than it otherwise would have been, but still plenty acceptable and they were pleased with it.

I have definitely realized the pros to shooting in RAW. This was shot in JPEG, now, I only shoot in RAW (as of about 6 months ago). So all my previous pictures are all JPEG.

Thanks for the critique!

LOL, to each their own, I suppose. This is one of my daughter's favorite shots of her.

Thanks for commenting. :)
