Great capture of emotion, but I think it may be cropped a little too close on the right, I think

Simple, but very interesting. Good lighting -- effective, but not too harsh.

Great capture of the intensity. You can almost feel her "pain." Great work.

I really like the contrast between the graceful curves adn the vertical posts. Seems a bit grainy to me though. Was this on purpose?

Very stark, both photographically and emotinally. I like the high contrast.

This is awesome. It looks so "vintage" and I like the naturalness of your subjects. (One teeny weeny nitpicky thing though -- did you have to cut off their toes?)

CRITIQUE CLUB CRITIQUE

I really like the "randomness" of this composition. Though it looks like you have carefully stacked the books, there is enough "out of line" that it still looks haphazard and natural. I also think the lighting is interesting, but the strongest point of this picture, I feel is the angle or perspective from which you have shot. The upward angle gives it a dynamic feeling, and makes the viewer feel as if they are climbing up this stack of books.

The focus, though very sharp and clear on the orange one (where my eye seems to rest each time) is a little soft at the bottom and top. Though the soft focus at the top doesn't bother me, I feel that a sharp focus at the bottom would really help lead the viewer's eyes into the shot more.

As far as the challenge is concerned, you have met it because you have included secondary colors. You have also included primary and tertiary if I am not mistaken, and this may have caused some voters to not consider it a strong picture for the challenge.

I looked up Taschen on the Internet (trying to figure out the "pun" from one of your comments and making sure I wasn't missing some obvious symbolism). Very interesting collection they showed on the website. Still not sure if that was another "connection" to the challenge or not.

Anyway, good picture, and I wish you the best in future challenges.
