Ernie, the score does not go with the quality of the shot for sure. Tack sharp and obviously you had great technique (great timing, wonderful focus , excellent tracking of the action, etc....) to capture the shot. It is very unfortunate that a lot of DPC voters do not really take into account the degree of difficulty that goes into capturing the shot.

My only input would have been to crop away the house , just leaving the trees.

Aww Barry!! the score and placing should have been better. This is a superb closeup shot. A lot of DPC folks just don't dig these type of shallow DOF shots.

Am really glad this did really well. A really marvellous shot. As I mentioned before the flash is a tad too obvious. One recommendation if you are using Photoshop CS is to use selective color (go to the white channel as a starting point) and subtlely adjust the warmer tones like yellow, red, magenta to get a warmer image.
