I share Imagineer's impressions on all points but one: composition.

The near-central placement of the house suggests a degree of staticity which, IMHO, diminishes the inherent drama of scape(s). If the scape (both land- and sky-) is the emotional subject of photo -and I believe it is- the house would be more advantageously placed further left, for a shift in emphasis. This is also desirable for reasons of overall balance, since the horizon, as well, is running quite centrally.

Despite the sheer persuasiveness of this image, it appears the irony was lost on the many. This too is hilarious.

The little white specks on the beach (see comments by drgsoell and Natator) are reflections of light from the white of sea shells.

While I could have easily removed them via adjustments to brightness and contrast, their inclusion here was critical to me, because it added a subtle but distinct metaphorical quality (the suggestion of stars on a dark plane) to the photo, which made for poetry to my senses.

Good photo, very good copyrighting. Font, although large and shadowed, suits subject and purpose.

Excellent, simple photo and clean timeless layout. The choice of font is both apt for the purpose and unusually tasteful.

The image, decidedly, appears not too dark at all on my monitors (Apple Powerbook G4 LCD and Apple eMac CRT). A shame, really, that some voters missed out on the pleasure others derived from this shot.

A very good photo and a poignant -take- with an effectively apt title. I would have liked to see more of the subject in exchange for some of the more than ample white space, particularly to provide as many or as much of a point(s) of interest as possible, given the literal -stillness- of this shot.

Technically (colour, hue, focus, dof) the photo is examplary, IMO.
