one step at a timeby ordinaryangelComment: I like the darkness of this shot - it hides detail and adds to the mystery. The casual pose / carriage, combined with the high heels makes you go huh? Did she go out for an evening stroll, and take a wrong path? This is a great suspense shot - makes you want to know more about what was happening. |

Day 9 - Berriesby JLCComment: This is a little dark for me. Even the front berries look slightly OOF. This is very much a centered shot, but the starburst of leaves from the center makes it work. Nice concept. |

Day 6 - Waiting for Nemoby BarbBComment: The problem with shooting fish in fish tanks is that almost always you're talking low light - very low light. Slow shutter speed. Tripod, timer or remote release. In addition, you're shooting through plastic or glass, not to mention water, all of which can distort an image or blur it. Now, add an active fish (remember the slow shutter speed because of low light?) What you've got is blur. Sounds like a good subject for a tutorial. Your best chance is what you got in this shot - a relative docile fish and lots of luck.
I like the color version a lot better - I had trouble figuring out the fish in the B&W. I think it is great that you're pushing the envelope and trying something new & different. One of the best pieces of advice I ever got in photography - don't hesitate to shoot - even in situations where the picture isn't supposed to come out - sometimes it works anyhow. Some of my favorite shots are hand held at very slow shutter. (Of course, the delete button gets a fair workout from these attempts, too.)

Day 8 - Creatures Withinby BudyaComment: Another bark person! I especially like the texture and how the light affects what you see. I've always liked the abstract shapes. |

Day 7: Windmillby EstimatedEyesComment: Do you see the Tyrannosaurus Rex? He's standing on his hind legs on the lower large limb with his back to the windmill. The branch on straight line to the left of the windmill arms is his forelimb, and the part in front of the connecting branch is his head. Framing shots are tough to do well, and this is nice. |

Day6.jpgby FotoMunkiComment: I'd like to see what this would've looked like with the shadow in focus, and the flowers slightly OOF. It might also be interesting to have the entire shadow in frame, and crop most of the actual flowers out. For me, that rectangular frosted-looking vase, turned just the way it is adds a lot to the shot, and provides a perfect transition from the shadow to the flowers. |

5- Cowboy Hats For Saleby BudComment: Love this shot. Brings back memories and a smile. Your main subject is so strong that the OOF areas at left & right of shot are unnoticed and act as a subconscious frame. |

Porsche. There is no substitute.by dtremainComment: For those who voted down on this because they thought it DNMC:
The challenge was to convey speed (fast or slow), not to show something speeding.
If Porsche, one of the fastest production automobiles in the world for over 40 years doesn't convey speed...
BTW - Word of advice. If you like to drive, don't drive a Porsche unless you can afford to buy one. Especially not on a twisting, windy road.
And in case you're wondering, no, I don't own one (although I'd like to...)

Day-Five.jpgby RoosterComment: The downside to the side lighting is that half his body is dark. Comes with the territory. If you can get him to cooperate, perhaps holding his left arm forward a bit to get it into the sun and out of his shadow would balance that out a bit. With his position, I can almost imagine a huge fish hanging next to him on the right of the photo... |
