Took this quick shot last night to enter in the "Closing" challenge, but then unsubmitted it because I didn't want to surprise anyone who hadn't read the book and would be upset at seeing this. I deliberately blurred most of the words and don't think this would give anything away, but not worth taking the chance for an image that was a 5.5 at best.

ETA: Heh heh ... just looked at the challenge entries. Guess this wasn't such an original idea either. ;>P

To answer dtremain -- this is the end of the final chapter, but there's an epilogue that comes after. Maybe that's what you're thinking of.

fwiw -- I've never read any of the books, but I love the movies. This is my daughter's copy -- who has read all the books more times than I can count.

Love the books and my daughter grew up on them. Nice photo. Like the DOF.

I thought he died? As you can tell I don't follow this series other than catching the movies on cable. Not a lot going on in this shot to comment on.

Are there multiple endings? This doesn't match my memory of the end of the final chapter of book 7. At least you didn't blur the foreground - an effect I seldom find attractive. I like this better than the two entered in the challenge. I'd toyed with doing the same thing, but came to the same conclusion you did - not wanting to spoil it for anyone. It would probably do better than what I did enter (an even less original idea, evidently). At least I'll get my first top 100 finish... ;-p
