I like the subject, and the light in this shot. The toning brings out the light in the tall grass heads nicely. This is a good example of taking an ordinary rural scene up to the next level with your processing skills.

Sweet, and artistic too. It's just a striking image. The bright red on the subject in the arch stands out and takes my attention there.

This shot looks like it would be difficult with a living moving little critter. I just got a 105/ 2.8 Micro Nikkor, and can not believe how little DOF there is at max aperture. I use a monopod, and hope that the breeze don't blow.
Nice detail in the antenae, and eyes in this shot.

It looks like they like that one tree for a roost. The one in the back on the right with a light colored neck is an anhinga. The short neck ones are cormorants. Anhingas have a longer tail and neck.

Nice shot of a great blue heron in flight. Well focused, and good light with a clean BG.

This is an excellent shot of one of these little guys showing off. They are difficult to photograph here because they are quite shy for some reason. The lighting, the foreground and background and the pose are all just right in this shot.

I don't have any problem with the chains, as they frame the faces in this shot. I also find that the way they both seem to be focused on something helps connect the viewer with the photo thru curiosity about what they are seeing.

I can already see by your shooting and processing that you are going to be a serious contender in the challenges here at DPC. Welcome to the fun.

It may be a good idea to wrap some tape over the clamps on the swing lines so little hands will not get cut. : )
