I didn't get a chance to vote, but I definitely think this deserved better than the average score it got. Perhaps the voters didn't care for the candidness of the shot, but I think you did a great job of capturing their expressions.

I don't have any problem with the chains, as they frame the faces in this shot. I also find that the way they both seem to be focused on something helps connect the viewer with the photo thru curiosity about what they are seeing.

Not quite a classical "portrait" in a way. Has more of a stolen/candid moment look and feel about it. Shame the chain crosses so close to her eye, but with 4 chains showing overall, it doesn't hurt it as much as it could, had it been only one.
