Coyote (Canis latrans)by pmichaudComment: These critters are usually very skittish. You lucked up to find this one so close and did a nice job getting the portrait. I have only seen a couple of them in this area, and they were already running when I spotted them. |

Cape clawless otterby sulamkComment: Otters are definitely the clowns of the animal world. They are so at ease in the water, and funny when they are out of it.
You did good to get this shot of one having lunch. |

Little Grasshopperby MaryOComment: This is a nice example of the right DOF. Your 28-75 has an aperture ring, so it should work with your ext tubes. You can stack the tubes and get even tighter on small subjects. The older manual Nikkor AI lenses are great with ext tubes, and a lot less expensive than the new lenses.
I like the way the DOF puts the focus right on it's head in this shot. |

Snowy Egretby TammsterComment: This shot looks very good just as you have it here. With white birds, I find that I need to shoot about 1.5 stops underexposed to get good detail in the feathers. This leaves the BG pretty dark looking but it seems the only way to get the birds. They are just so very reflective and such a small bit of the overall image, that they tend to fool the camera's metering system.
The reflection in the water is nice in this. |

Black Bears - Chapleauby in2truthComment: I think that you made the right decision to get back into the car, even though they may not have been upset about you being there. |

yellowbilled egretby sulamkComment: You got this one at a very nice angle. I like that the bird is sharp, and the BG has just enough sharpness to be able to tell what is there without being a big distraction. That's a heavy duty lens that you shot this with. |

LX3womanonpier.jpgby dagaleaaComment: This is a very popular angle to shoot this pier, and around Jan, the sun set is right in line with it. That sky looks like it was about to be a cold night by Florida standards.
I like the composition in this shot, and the bit of red reflection off the pilings. Sunsets skies like this can make marvelous photos if you have a tripod, and wait until the sky gets that awesome royal blue in it. That is usually about ten to twenty minutes after the actual sunset. |

Peter's Creek - Day 3by idnicComment: I see the little bit of wire in the top right corner, which must be the reason that you didn't get the tops of the trees over the RR bridge. It's a very typical Florida "river or creek" in the shot. This is a very pretty spot, and I would guess that it is even better when conditions are just right for shooting. I feel at home looking at this image. |

2 Give Bloodby karmatComment: The shot looks pretty good to me. If you feel like the focus is a problem, make sure that the lens is good and clean. I use alcohol and a q tip, then finish by condensing my breath on the lens and wipe with a clean q tip. I bought a nice P&S cheap at a pawn shop because the lens was smudged and it would not focus right.
That's a cool combo, with the county name and the bat for the blood drive. |
