Old Grump looks pretty content about you pointing your camera at him. The light in this shot is cool with the one eye lit well, and the other just a couple of highlights. My attention goes right to the eye on the bright side.

Jays are pretty smart birds. I like the curve of the plant hanger, the bokeh and the "head on" point of view in this shot.

Arches and Filigree

Congrats on the POTD! This is a very intriguing perspective shot, with the way the arches carry your attention from right to left back and forth into the distance.
DPC score would have been much higher if you had been able to use a tripod and stop down to f11 or so to get the distant arches in better focus. The uniform existing light helps a lot with this shot too.

Superb detail in this shot. You don't see these guys resting in the mowed grass very often. They usually seek out a place well above the ground to light for a break. The DOF looks like this was shot at f11 or f16.

The Good Times

This just looks like somewhere around the western Everglades, maybe the Turner River or Bear Island area. It's a beautiful shot, and it made me look more than twice when I was looking through the challenge entries. I notice that it did not get any 1, 2, or 3 votes. What a wonderful shot.

The point of view and her pose, with closed eyes give this shot a captivating aura. I can think of twenty things that she may be thinking, including maybe nothing at all, just soaking up the moment. What a cool moment captured.

That super wide did a great job of making all the elements in this shot fit with each other. I like the dark tones and the composition's curves in this shot. It's a keeper.

That eye color is amazing. I thought that it was colored in post processing until I read the description. I have a cat that has the complimentary colored eyes.
