This is a photo to be proud of, a truly unique image. I see that you had the camera facing north east, from the trails. It must be very dark there at night for you to do this at 5.6 and almost 3 hours, or perhaps done with a N D filter. The 7D did an awesome job with keeping the noise low.
I am guessing that the windmill is a 1/4 or 1/2 scale model, as I see what looks like a bench seat in front of it.
Thanks for adding the details about how it was done. I salute you for your patience and careful planning. You were rewarded with a very memorable night and an outstanding image for your effort.

Solid color bird feathers are always difficult to capture, because the one color tends to over saturate, and they are usually so much brighter than anything else in the BG. The bird in this is very nice, the BG, not so exciting. Perhaps a wider aperture to throw the BG more out of focus would have worked to improve the overall score. The peacocks are a beautiful bird, with their glowing feathers.

I didn't vote, but I did do a double take on this because it was so different. I kind of like the uneasiness in the darkness in the foreground, with just enough detail to see that it is a city. Then, it's topped off with those clouds, which look like a chemistry processing error from the film and fluids days of photography. Cool stuff.

This seems to be one of the simplest images that I have seen from you. I am not so comfortable with the centered upper third composition for some reason, but don't know exactly why. Love the colors and water though.
