When I saw this title on the thumbnail I was initially puzzled - I had always envisioned Ents to be taller and broader than this - maybe ( I reasoned ) it's an Ent that's been ill ? Which would also explain it's lack of foliage . .

But then when I saw the shot full size and saw the line of them emerging through the mist it all fell into place :- )

Excellent title and rather nice shot as well.

It is a Greater Black Backed Gull (Larus marinus)- and from the red on the beak it also looks like it has young to feed.
The red spot grows noticably larger and brighter when it has young. The youngsters then peck at it as a stimulous for the mother to regurgitate food for them.
