Heck, I love this the way it is. Maybe my screen is too bright, but these dark tones work for me, and contrast very nicely with the white cup and white shirt. (I'm not a histogram believer, but then I'm not a prize winning photographer either). And if stalking is what it takes to get an expression and moment like that, stalk away.

Thanks to BeeCee...Yes, strangely moving, and processing evocative. (I find the banding in the sky fascinating, and here it makes a definite contribution to the composition as well as to the message, just as the numbers have their own resonance).

Thanks for all your great comments. Originally not a great photo - plastic on the windows, ugly window division, ill-defined dried flowers; converting to BW minimized some of this, and cropping brought out what I felt the dog felt, which is also what I used to feel about Sunday afternoon as a child. (Of my work on DPC, this and 'Lady' are the two I feel best about).

Sharp focus on Goosey, billtip to webtoe and the ground whereon he stands against the blurred bg, and the wonderful definition within his whites delightfully emphasize his quirky random moment in the universe. (Not to compete with Pineapple or Posthumerus). If I had anything definitive to say about the background I'd be a better photographer than I already am, but looking at your alternate Goosey where the bg is more in focus I am tempted to suspect you might think it provided some of the same context it did there. But I applaud the negative space.
