I love the background. Before I read your description I was thinking how it looked like you shot this thru some kind of glass coated in water. It looks really cool!

The crazy background combined with the hatchet give it that scary guy Halloween feel. You should convert this to black and white and maybe unmask the hatchet. Not sure if that would work but there really is something eerie about that background!

EDIT: Ohhhh I see - did you use that textured background? Really really cooooool.
