Grain Barn and Treeby namComment: took FOREVER to load .. slow internet .. so i was only seeing the top half for a long time .
then the pond came into view .. and the really lovely composition ..
this is very lovely .. and your black and white edit is perfect .. subdued and appropriate .. obviously my personal opinion ..

Glad you didn't crop it - the upper part is interesting and abstract enough! If if cropping at all then crop it at the bottom and on the sides and make a square out of it
But how did you do it? Just shoot into your sink from above? And then? |
thankyou so much for your comment Barbara .. i kept the bottom so there was more of the 'funnel' coming down from the 'space ship' .. into the darkness sort of .. like a bit foreboding ..
i took many of photos of water coming out of the tap in my kitchen sink onto the vegetable steamer .. i'd take a heap of shots and then upload them onto the computer and check them out .. i did that several times ..i wanted the water totally in focus and a pleasing composition as well .. not an easy thing to get especially as the tap was getting in the way of the lens .. i tried 3 different lenses in my attempts as well .. i've never done anything like this before so it was a real learning curve .. water does have a mind of its own .... anyway when i saw this one i felt i had the one i wanted .. i rotated the image in photoshop and then did a heap of stuff to it ... Geometric Kissby primabarbaraComment: this is gorgeous .. soft and almost luxurious ..
once again i see a wonderful abstract .. and notice the low votes ..
so many wonderful and imaginative images in this challenge got really low votes ..
so disappointing .. makes this site feel quite unwelcoming actually ... and yes i know ppl have different tastes .. but 2's and 3's i would think should be reserved for total crap .. excuse the french ..

Philadelphia, through a windshield, at night, in the rainby MeMex2Comment: it really is very disappointing that ppl vote on assumptions ..
your title had no bearing on how much i liked this .. it was like a will-o-wisp passing thru my mind .. the impact for me was in the visual ..
but i was blown away by all the low votes on some amazing images in this challenge .. of course ppl do have different tastes .. but like i say .. disappointing .. i personally never give a score less than 5 ... i feel if someone is going to go to the trouble of entering a photo i'll give them points for that .. :) |

Extra Ordinaryby MelethiaComment: i can see that more than you and i loved this image ... i can see two 8's and 4 x 7's ...
if i give a vote so high i just have to comment and let the person know why i appreciated their photo ..
but we are all different ...
i really do think this would look amazing printed ... probably on canvas ...
and while i'm here .. re. the low votes .. if you look at the ribbon winners and some other amazing photos in this challenge they all got their fair wack of low votes .. of course we have to take into account ppl's like and dislikes .. but sometimes its just plain weird .. and makes no sense at all ..
unless there's a conflict of interest .. and i do feel .. altho not everyone does .. that if you're in a challenge then dont vote .. vote of course if you can overcome that conflict of interest .. and some ppl may be able to give unbiased votes when they are in the same challenge and give what they feel the photo deserves .. but i feel many dont and mark down their competition .. it seemed particularly ruthless in this challenge .. could have been the subject matter ..
i loved all the different textures and surfaces ... and the shapes and lines and contrast .. this is fantastic .. :)
