your black and white edit seems perfect for this 'sad' scene ..
as the building looks burnt out .. i cant imagine a scenario where that could be a good thing .. hope the ppl who lived here went on to better things .
so i'll just contradict myself here . and say ..
but as sometimes happens .. out of a negative a positive is waiting just around the corner .. :)

probably not in life or our interpretation of it ... if that makes sense .
there's so much this image has going for it .
of course the light coming in that window .. and the tones .
and it has been captured to perfection .
