Nice low key image! I can see why you are yearning for lights now. I must admit that when I first saw this (I already knew it was yours) I thought you had been shooting store windows again. Then I noticed that the skin didn't look plastic. What a great experience you had. Congratulations on a well deserved terrific score, especially for a Free Study.

Aw, my husband and I had a bichon for 16.5 years. He's been gone for about 6 years now, and we still miss him. What a joyful and loving breed that is!

This is a great score and placement for a Free Study. Congratulations on a very good entry. I have a feeling that the blown highlights on his back may be what prevented it from scoring above 6 -- the subject, composition, simplicity, focus, and color are all excellent (IMO).

Mmmmm. Those are good enough to eat!!! I like the ship on the horizon, the bird in the sky and the person on the beach. I think the image seems a bit over sharpened, from the horizon down.

I remember the skies on June 30. They were gorgeous. Larry and I were driving North on Florida's Turnpike, and I wanted to stop every two minutes to take a picture. Of course I didn't, or we would never have gotten to Michigan. But it is so nice that you captured some of it for me.

Awesome photo! I love the lines, colors, textures, light, composition, and the little green creature in the center, which tops it off. Congratulations on the blue ribbon.

Good shot and good activity. This is my husband's favorite activity, and not just for weekends. I like your DOF here. Not interested in what's happening, just watching the watcher.

Oh, too bad about the timing. We left for MI on June 30 -- shucks! Delray Beach is 30 minutes from Ft. Lauderdale. I hope you had fun on your cruise.

When I first saw this shot I thought "what a fabulous sky". Then I found out it is "my sky". I never get tired of watching the sky on the East coast of Florida. You did a great job of capturing the beauty.

Wow, you've done it again with one of your orange silhouette shots. Nice going, Terry! Who says there are not good photo ops in Mich?!

What a little cutie! I love having the alligator and waterlily in the same shot. The composition and color are terrific. And alligators always have such nice smiles and bright eyes. Congratulations on the good score and top ten finish.

The only thing about this that I would change is to remove the wisp of grass from in front of his eye.

I don't mind the text, but I think it is more of a distraction than an enhancement. Unless the parents requested it, I would leave it out. They know who she is and what year it is.

I would try reducing the highlight on the main photo. It seems a little harsh to me and seems to wash out the child somewhat. If adjusting the highlights and shadows flattens the image too much, try a teeny bit of adjustments to the offset and gamma (taking the sliders ever so slightly to the left. They can be found under Image>Adjustment>Exposure.

Beautiful b&w. Unusual to take the color out of the sunset, but it certainly worked well for you here. Congratulations on your blue ribbon.
