Day-12.jpgby KenComment: I think you did a really good job with the HDR/tonemapping. To me it's quite subtle. I also respect your decision not to square crop, though there's some space to the left you might have cropped (though it would have left you with a very non-standard crop!). |

Day-14.jpgby KenComment: Beautiful time of day for such festive lights. Good job on the exposure. The roads a little drab, it would be nice to have an object of interest in the foreground with the booths, etc., as backdrop.
I'm jealous of your wide lens -- another reason to think about getting a DSLR. I agree, cropping is a shame in this case. You might also try resizing without keeping the correct aspect ratio, though you'd end up with a mighty distorted photo.
PS: I looked up "Elephant Ears" -- it's fried dough, right? I only knew the flora and fauna varieties. |

Day-15.jpgby KenComment: Looks like a beautiful summer day. Good exposure, you've got sand, sky, water (not to mention people) with nothing over or under exposed (I think the brightest spot is that guy's back).
Twenty years ago I went to a sand building contest in Hawaii -- I was knocked out by the professional looking entries there. |

Day 15by hajekaComment: Good lighting, clarity, and I like how the fries fill the frame. Most importantly, they look scrumptious.

Torn by JulieGComment: Congratulations, Julie -- I'm happy to be one of your 10s. I thought of GIS Boy's shadow photo when I saw yours. I have to say you appropriated the idea brilliantly. Best,

Eggregation by scalvertComment: You say the idea "just clicked" -- I wish I'd have such inspiration (and then the patience and the technical skill to back it up)! Anyhow, congratulations... I'm happy to be one of your 10s. :-)

Day 14: To The Moon!by cginoComment: Interesting that you questioned the composition; I think what you ended up with is very effective. Good job on the HDR -- I want to explore that more (I have "Easy HDR Basic" but have only used it a couple of times). With all the PP it actually looks a bit superimposed, like an old sci-fi movie! |

day 15. 50 days square crop. closing downby rozComment: Cool colors, especially those reflected in that amazing abstract floor. This really says "closing time!" I like how the man is reflected in one of the store windows, and how he is lit while the women in the back are in total silhouette. |

July 6: Cherry :o)by daboardergirlComment: Like the others have said -- beautiful "bokeh" which presents a perfect backdrop for the pure red of the cherry. I think picking a color for the pic to use in the frame can backfire, but here it is subtle and doesn't distract from the photo. |

day 12 doggie face.jpgby suitenessComment: Good capture of a sweet face, indeed. Good DOF, with the important focus on the eyes (and funny enough on the teeth, too). I like the gray in his muzzle and eyebrows -- just like my own! :-]
Austin sounds nice. Thanks for the glimpse, and for sharing the additional photos of the other dog and of Jo's.
