Well, this kind of rocket didn't really go to the Moon :-)
I had a great day, went on a photo trip with my photo buddy to Alamogordo, NM. I went to the Space Museum while he went to the zoo. The museum displays were very interesting, but my favorite part was all the different rockets in the front garden, this being one of them. I was feeling a bit challenged at first on how to get a tall, skinny thing into a square crop and almost said "square crop be dammed!", then settled on this little corner.
This is processed up the wazoo :-) First an HDR of 3 exposures, then levels adjustments in Photoshop, Lucis Art filters 'exposure' and 'whyeth' applied on everything but sky (really mucked the sky up), cloned out some supporting beams of the ship (should have done the main one in the middle too but got a bit lazy, maybe for the next pass), another pass of Lucis Art 'exposure' filter on just the rocket, gaussian blur on the background a bit, selective sharpening on the rocket rivets... hmmm, that's mostly it I guess. |

This is cool. Your processing makes it look like a cartoon almost. And it really stands apart from the background. I like the composition with just part of the rocket filling out the diagonal of the pic. |

I really like the processing, HDR was a good choice! I think the square crop worked nicely with this, I like the little glimpse of the rocket. |

Well, with your cool processing it LOOKS like it could go to the moon - at least! Awesome!!! |

I love the composition and processing on this. It reminds me (again, something earlier in this challenge did the same thing) of the 1950's obsession with all things futuristic. Great composition decision -- I'm glad you didn't forego the square crop for it. |

The super-processed works well, especially because it got the rocket more than background. You can really see detail, especially those rivets. |

The processing gives it an unworldly (out-of-this-world/sci-fi) feeling |

WOW! Awesome shot...Love the processing, excellent textures and the silvery ship against the desert BG is perfect! I agree, very 50's Sci Fi, which I love! |

Interesting that you questioned the composition; I think what you ended up with is very effective. Good job on the HDR -- I want to explore that more (I have "Easy HDR Basic" but have only used it a couple of times). With all the PP it actually looks a bit superimposed, like an old sci-fi movie! |

See I am bound to love any picture where the description includes the phrase 'This is processed up the wazoo'
All I can say is that it is totally worth the effort you expended on it
Great shot which brings to mind an early colour 1950's sci fi film
Love the fact that the rocket almost looks superimposed on the image and the silver colour is outstanding |
