This just goes to show that you can't use your score to determine whether your entry is good or not. When I look at this outside of the challenge context I realize what a good photo it is. I actually think I overlooked it because it wasn't "yellow enough" (whatever that means). I see it now and think I'd be happy to have that on my wall.

Congrats on your new flash. I bought my first external flash for my camera and I have yet to try it out. I don't know why I'm so intimidated!

I love the composition. It appears as if heavy noise reduction or slightly-off focus has rendered the bird textureless. Still at least a 6 from me.

I think this is definitely on the good side of good/bad, but the DOF is so shallow it makes the bird seem blurry. Nice composition -- I especially like how the branches frame the bird naturally. I also like how the pale colors contrast with the bright bird.

One aspect of photography is to show the viewer something he's never seen before -- and you've certainly done that! What an amazing creature. The photo is good and sharp and I like the background. Well done.

Beautiful bird, very nicely captured. The colors are outstanding and the photo is sharp. I would suggest cloning out the light speck on his beak (near his eye) -- although it is tiny, it keeps drawing my eye. A high score from me.

Beautiful bird photo, I love the textures on his breast and the colors on his wing. The twisting branches that create a natural frame around him really make the photo magical. Although the background is good and blurry, for some reaosn I find it a bit distracting. Anyhow, one of my challenge favorites.
