Unthinkable 100 Years Ago by TiberiusComment: The main subject seems to be the giant photo of Mao. I don't pay much attention to titles as I feel entries should mainly stand on their own, but in this case I thought "Unthinkable" referred in some way to the presence of the photo. I didn't recognize the locale so could not consider its history. I assumed the tourists were an unavoidable element in the photo.

Ten O'Clock by jimnessComment: Congrats, Jim. At first glance I wasn't crazy about the processing, but on reflection saw it was a gorgeous photo and bumped up my vote. :-) |

Grandmom's Childhood Glassesby phylsy7Comment: Looking at my top vote-getters and am sorry to see this placed lower than I expected. My guess is you were hurt by the "glasses on bible" subject, since it is so common. However, I thought your execution was very fine. |

A Cone and a Hidden Fox (Happy 1000th DPC!)by jlanoueComment: As I wrote in another entry comment... I find it hard to assess astronomy photos in the way I would photos of any other subject, considering their specialized nature. This looks quite professional and attractive, however. |

Gate to Fairylandby KAOSComment: This looks magical! It's hard to get the full effect at this size, that's why it's important (in my opinion) to try to use the fully allowed 720 pixels. I wonder if this would lose the mystery if it were a little brighter? Lovely shot at any rate. |
