 How to choose one image????!!! The onus of "The Thousandth Challenge" (not to mention selecting from through thousands of photos) was just overwhelming. I pretty much just closed my eyes and pointed. But it was a fun stroll down memory lane.

I chose a memorable moment from a memorable trip. This mother and daughter were posing for tips on the ruins of Ollantaytambo in Peru - one of many places we visited in 2005 for the Inca Trail hike to Machu Picchu.

I cannot believe it's all over now, and my submission placed this high among such incredible work and illustrious artists. Thank you for all the incredible comments. Yes, I wish that I had been a little to the left as well, but we catch what we can :-)

A square crop is fine, but I felt that you should have cropped slightly tighter. Selectively sharpened the girls and increased the contrast slightly , then they would stand out more.

This image is a bit frustrating because there is such potential. I like it and it will get at least a 7 from me, but it would really be nice if one could see a bit more of the people in their colorful clothes.

so sharp and clear in the foreground and then blurred perfectly in the background, really well done with the DOF, and then having the bright colors of the clothing pop out really works well

Something about the focus makes it hard for me to get a sense of scale here, the people almost look like dolls at first. A unique setting though, and lots of interesting textures and shapes to explore.

The depth of field really gives the impression that the path simply drops off as cliffs on all sides. It is a really neat perspective and the burst of colors from the people in the shot really add as well.
