Rain at Day by banmornComment: I find myself peering at the shadows beyond those drops, trying to make out what I'm seeing. An image one can sit with for a while. :) |

Differently the Sameby WildcardComment: I thought Modigliani too - great paring down of the image to its basic forms by blurring. I think the lengthening effect, having the subjects streeetttcch from top to bottom makes this very interesting to look at. |

chele esqueby Jaded_HousewifeComment: I fell I'm being hexed. :) Great backdrop to highlight the subject; has a sense of foreboding to it all. |

Boyby xianartComment: He's got flying saucers in his eyes! :) Very arresting shot, nice use of the blur and hat brim to frame the eyes. |

SD4: Exit Stage Left!!by cginoComment: I like how his head is not quite in the frame - it underscores the speed of the movement captured. |

The Spider and the Flyby Blue MoonComment: The background has some distracting noise to it, and the centered composition and not-so-sharp focus serves to keep the image from having a real impact for me. I had not voted this challenge, but I likely would have given this a 5, which for me means "average" - below average starts in the 4s for me. |

Day 32: The Spider and The Fly Outtakeby Blue MoonComment: I believe this is an improvement on the other one, too - the off-set composition makes it more interesting and the background appears less noisy. Edit to add - in comparison with your other shot, this one, with the improved composition would have merited a 6 or 7 from me. Message edited by author 2007-08-08 09:45:39. |

o d e by messerschmittComment: Makes me think of Giacometti. :) Great use of blur here, to turn an ordinary portrait into something approaching an abstract. |
