Walkabout5.jpgby LouisaComment: Toning you chose seems to work very well with this - that splay of stalks at the top give this shot a lot of interest. |

Looking for me?by bdennyComment: Gorgeous - and the detail in that eyeball is freaky. Fantastic control of DOF. |

Soft Ambientby meyersComment: The framing is great - nice echo of the arch of the sofa back with the arch of her body, and the placement of objects give the setting some depth. I think the depth of field you chose is excellent. The shadows and lighting look natural too me, and just what I would expect to see - if you had more "professional" portrait lighting, it would look too much set-up and the viewer would lose the sense of being there, IMO. |

One of Many Sides by JuliBocComment: Congratulations, Juli, this is really a beautiful shot. Full of humanity and quite touching. Not to mention it hits the nail on the head for the challenge. |

Half a Hummerby MelethiaComment: I like the processing on this - captures the grittiness of the surroundings without showing all the surroundings. |

Old Beautyby Bruce_the_RobertComment: It's a pain to shoot reflective surfaces and not get yourself in the shot. :) I just read the other day to point the lens through a hole in a large panel of cloth (black or white, depending on the reflection you're looking for) to disguise the camera and surroundings - I offer that tip to you, should you find it useful, although I haven't made use of it myself, yet, to know how well it works. I like the simple directness of the shot, and the focus, although I had assumed it was at a wider aperture. I'm surprised that at f/8 you didn't get more of the rim of the lens in focus. I like how you focused it, as I said, I just assumed it was at a different aperture. |
