insideby jmritzComment: I feel like this is a spirit trying to communicate with me. Not threatening, aside from the strangeness of a ghost's presence. |

Turquoiseby NikonJebComment: Ha! Maybe cropping tighter would have made the point better? Like bringing the top all the way down so their heads are as far from the top as their feet are from the bottom.
Also, I think a different title could help you answer emorgan49's excellent questions. Not every shot has to have a moral, but you increase the impact if it does. |

BUSTEDby roby21112Comment: Funny idea and a decent shot. It looks more like a snapshot of a friend than a competitive image, though. Mostly because of the centered composition.
For a moodier, more emotional effect, try it again but having her facing the bar, maybe even leaning toward it a bit. Put her on the left side of the image and the beer on the right. That'll improve the composition and also put some shadows on her face. If you try it, I'd really enjoy seeing it. :) |

in concertby yankoComment: Hey, cool angle! I love the triangular bright area, esp. with the person anchoring the tip. B&W conversion is spot on. Nice! |

throb.jpgby dahkotaComment: Interesting point/counterpoint with the color vs. black and bright vs. dark. Something about the cropping bugs me, though, like the flower really wants to be in a squarer frame. |

Self Portraitby posthumousComment: My primary reaction is: so THAT'S what you look like. You look troubled, my friend. Whether it's because smoke is in your eyes, you're feeling what your comments say, or the camera went off before you were ready, I couldn't say. |

pru 2by TCGuruComment: Well, whaddaya expect for a reaction besides awwwwww. :) It's nicely composed and nicely lit, to boot! I think I'd like a touch more contrast, though. |

Facing a Visual Cultureby posthumousComment: As usual, Don, I feel like this shot belongs on a wall with a bench in front of it. It's not an instant grabber, but rather it invites you to think about what's happening to and around this girl.
I think the picture tells about how blind people perceive the world without help: one big jumble. It begins with her facing away from the folks behind her and continues through the confused background. And the tones are so stark, emphasizing the harshness of making your way in a sighted world without sight.
Oh. I just got this was a challenge entry. :) I'm not sure how well this fits with the challenge theme, but I know you don't really care about that.
The only thing that bothers me is that she almost looks pasted in. I think it's because of the dark outline on her cheek on the image-right side and neck on the image-left side. |
