Flight of Fancy by mpetersComment: This is stunning. I think there's too much dead space at the top. I know you wanted to keep the top right bird, but I think the image would be more powerful without the top inch. |

Aliceby MAKComment: This is a fantastic shot, but I think you may have over-dodged the eye on the left. Other than that it has great texture and lighting along with a beautiful girl. |

Never Emptyby ordinaryangelComment: This is interesting to look in to. Who has umbrellas, who doesn't. With most of the couples, the guy is holding it over the couple, but there's one couple where the man is just holding it over himself. Why are there so many people even with umbrellas when it doesn't appear to be raining? Why are most of them pastel pink or blue?
So many questions! |

Observant Strangerby IreneMComment: The colors and crop are quite interesting.
I think you may have over-sharpened the image though. There's also a compression issue. There's jaggies on his nose and a bit of a halo. |

squirrelby JulieGComment: Yea, you missed the focus on the nose, but you got the ears. Man, those things are cute! Great muted colors. |

White Jellyby GeneralEComment: I think you pretty much nailed this one as far as sharpness, focus, and exposure. It's always tough shooting through that thick glass in the jelly fish rooms. They're always so dark in there and the jellies never want to hold still.
This is beautifully soft and clear. |

Suburbia's got its own problems!by DrAchooComment: Did you borrow a sign from someone actually sitting at that intersection? There's some damn expensive cars in the lot at that shopping center sometimes. Some cars you would think would be sitting in a locked garage and never driven because they're in the 90k+ range.
As for the actual photo, it looks too processed to me. |

Yes, thats right... I said Ribbit!by JaimeVinasComment: I looked at a few pages of photos that placed higher than this image, and I probably would have placed it higher. As for what went wrong, I'm not really sure.
I do get the feeling that I want to pull out and turn the image to an angle, but I also realize that wouldn't be what you were going for. The colors also seem a little cold for what DPC voters usually go for. I played with just contrast, and bumping it +20 makes the eyes really stand out.
I wonder if it's a psychological reaction. Maybe the voters just aren't used to looking at frog eyes. Maybe they were unconsciously wanting the eyes to be facing forward like Kermit.
The more I look at the image while trying to focus on the eyes, the more the image splits in half, and I don't see the eyes at all. I look straight up the middle and see nothing; not even the cute little froggy nostrils. That might explain my initial reaction in the first paragraph of wanting to pull out and turn to the side. |
