Drowning Heartby klkitchensComment: This is honestly pretty interesting even though I have no idea what I'm really looking at. |

forever loveby libertyComment: I like your composition choice. I love the hair and the lighting behind the ears.
It looks as though you may have bad your focus off a bit, and I think you could have bumped up the brightness a few notches and still got the same dark effect. |

Reverieby JeniYComment: Gorgeous portrait. Those eyes are amazing. There's a lot of depth here. There's so much to look at, because it's all so well done. |

Canada Kissby hahn23Comment: I see the heart, but most of all I see a photo that hasn't been flipped to the correct orientation. It might have been better to flip it horizontal and let the viewer find the sideways heart. |

Pulseby rinacComment: I do like the idea and the overall outcome of the shot, but I think your vignette is a bit too tight or the image is too dark as a whole.
I can see how your artistic intent might be to have the strong darkness, but coupled with the muted colors it would be easy to pass this image over without noticing it.
I wonder if you could have cloned out that pole running through your "I". |

got my heart on a stringby MichaelCComment: Beautiful girl and good idea, but it looks like you dodged her eyes a bit too much.
The background in the bottom right of the photo is getting pretty yellow. If you're going to have a white background on this site, it's gotta be white, white. Since it's an Advanced challenge, you can just mask her head out to select all except her head and then desaturate the yellows in Hue/Saturation. |

Galatea's blooming heartby remboComment: That's a really interesting figure!
The photo is well executed and would be great for a studio or museum website. The rose is a beautiful touch. I think voters are going to be looking for something more in this challenge though. |

A Tree With Heartby 777STANComment: I can see why you did the selective desaturation, but unfortunately you missed large chunks and in this venue you're going to get hammered for being sloppy. I think you're too close to your subject and that is limiting your framing and cropping options. You can see the heart fairly clearly from the thumbnail, but at full size I'm looking at the pretty bark patterns. |

Lucky in Loveby k9logicComment: Shots like this are best done outside under natural light or well controled studio lighting. It looks like your white balance wasn't set properly for your indoor lighting.
The focus is good, but I can't say it's a terribly interesting subject. You probably would have been better off pulling back and getting something else in the shot too; bowl, spoon, etc.
Our instinct is to zoom in and focus on our subject rather than let the subject speak for itself. I'm a huge macro fan, so I'm struggling the same battle. If the scene is set up properly your subject will pop out on its own.
This is one of my favorite learning shots on the site. One day I'll get it right!

My Heart is Melting by JohannesFrankComment: This could use a run through Neat Image or similar. Very well executed otherwise. I like the centered square crop choice, but I don't like the beveled border. I've got a personal angst against beveling, but I'm not voting, so it won't hurt your score from me. |
