Day 4 - Bachelor Button by annigComment: Yeah, much better I think (the crop). I would give it a tad more breathing room at the top and consider a sliver less at the left, but it's great to see the whole flower. Don't forget to sharpen the flower for web. |

Day 5 flowers on the half-shellby annigComment: I like this one, beautiful composition. I probably would try to clean up a couple of the extras (the hair at the top of the shell, the little bright thing at bottom left), but this is excellent. It's a good shot to play around with. That's what I did (hot day, I'm very bored):

Day 6- Hastaby annigComment: I like the light shining through the big leaves, and the hidden quality of the flower. Even the inside part of the flower looks like it's something trying to peek out. For my own taste, the composition is maybe a tad too busy, in particular I probably would have moved or avoided the leaf/drop at bottom right (that's another picture, the drop on that leaf). |

Day 6 - Cottage Gardenby PrismComment: Beautiful garden - it's good to see the big picture sometimes :) If anything, I'd have moved the cage at bottom centre. |

Day 6 Violaby stargazer05766Comment: I've been looking at this one for a while. There's something very attractive about it. The flower looks so sad, but it's so clear. I really, really wish I could see it without the petal cut off at the top right. I like the diagonal feel. The colours are great. I particularily like how well you caught the purplish edges to the petals, they're beautiful! |

The Last Roseby NikonJebComment: At first reaction, it's not an image that screams, "Look at me!" It's more of an image that grows on you, maybe even one that has a personal history, one where you might have a connection to the image that the rest of us can only guess. That's probably too much.
As for it being in the "Postcard" challenge, it doesn't scream postcard in the stereotypical definition of postcard. Card yes, but not postcard. That's probably the biggest reason why people didn't appreciate it during the challenge.
As for the image itself, the technicals seem fine, and the composition is OK also. It's an odd picture in a way, the gentle, light colours of the rose against the dark, broody fence, the dark dead rose crossing over in front and then behind the young rose, a picture of contrasts in a way. I think you're right, it probably makes a beautiful print. What's funny is that images that look good on the net don't necessarily make good prints (and the other way around too).
I hope this helps a tad. |

Poised for Flightby ElaineComment: They do look like they're trying to run away from you. Probably that big, scary camera, got them all scared. |
