Two bugs for the price of one!! That flower is a magnificent riot of energy. Nice find, well captured. |

What great clarity on all those stamen. And two bugs to boot. |

The swellings on the end of the stamens that Anne talked about are actually anthers, where the pollen is made.
Kind of crazy...all those stamens and only 1 pistil in the middle. This array makes for an interesting photo. |

St. John's Wort...also used in alternative medicine as therapy for depression...
lovely!
PS: I thought I'd seen this earlier..the flower that is! I like this composition much more than the other. the flower really stands out here, funny how the stamen changes..I'm guessing those pods are at the endof the blooms' life..perhaps that's liek rose hips & where the ingredients come from for their medicinal components??

What a fuzzy flower. I often wonder why they all look so different when they are all doing the same thing. What a wonderful world of variety!

Ah, yes, beautiful! Do you know the common name of this flower? I don't know what it is, but would like to know. |

Striking composition, but the flower's very "flat" and there's no color or lighting separation to highlight the individual strands in the middle, so they get lost. |
