Day 6 of 30

Found this little fella' exploring my daylilies. Then decided to have fun with borders ;-)

PP - converted from RAW, cropped, increased saturation, cloned bottom petal just a little higher after I tried the border experiment a few times and decided it needed to hit the curve of the petal, cropped inside and copied, lowered gamma on big picture, added green border to inside and pasted it into big picture, resized, sharpened, reduced noise.

Looks a little oversharpened but not distractingly so. Looks like something I'd do myself (which I get comments on alot). I'm usually not a fan of wide borders but this one doesn't bother me so much. It works for the shot.

Wow, he must be really small. Good capture, very pleasant image, some bug shots are kind of in your face to the point of being uncomfortable to look at (if you don't like bugs) but this is very nice.

You really nailed this one. The colors complement each other so well, very pleasing to the eye. And the little hopper is enjoyable to look at.

This is super. Would love to see it without the frame.

Great use of narrow DOF. Love how he pops off of the page. If it were mine, I'd make that green border not quite as intense and VERY skinny. ;~D

Wonderful image. Love the lighting and DOF on the little critter. It can stand on its own without the border. Great shot!

The shallow DOF creates a whole landscape for the bug. I like how the crispness of the focused part drifts into the BG. I'm not a border fan and this one doesn't work for me.

Oh nice catch! Love the sunny yellow and the lime green hopper...It just screams summer. I'm not a big fan of the border...anything that competes with the true subject isn't necessary IMO. This little hopper definitely does not need to be "caged" so to speak.

Great image! I like the green border, but I think I like the processing better along the edge. The difference is what is distracting to me.

Hi This is great image. I agree with Bear Music-the image is quite good & does seem to be challenged by the border. Also, how is a border done? (I really have no clue) but it seems as though the image outside the border is more clear-is that possible? Maybe just the lighting of the photo, but the border accentuates the difference? Anwyay, nice job & I think it's fun to play and experiment in front of a "friendly" crowd!

That's way cool, but the border is doing battle with the image IMO.
