Nice dramatic lighting. You have a simple but affective composition. In my top 10 this week!

This was my only 10 this week. This is a very well done shot. The lines, tones and focus are spot on! Such an easy composition, but probably not so easily done. Congrats! This is a winner in my book!

You have found a very interesting piece of architecture. The repeating columns and decorative stars do have a rhythm to them. With a shot like this one, the viewer is looking for balance. You have the elements available to make a balanced shot, but your crop has left more column on the left and cut off the one on the right. This leaves me feeling that this has a more of a snapshot feel to it. As you get more in tune with your shots, you'll begin paying attention to your location in relation to the subject you're shooting. As you move around you may realize that you can get a better perspective by moving left or right, or by kneeling or standing on something. This shot just needed you to move more to the right so you are standing directly in front of the middle column. This would have square the horizon and balanced the space on the left and right. Your white balance is good. The tones in the building look correct. You don't have any areas that are overly bright or dark and the curtains appear sharp and in good light. You may have oversharpened your final version here. This can be seen in by the stairstepping in the window stars.

This is a fine shot, it only needs a small amount of adjustments to make this really stand out for the viewer.

This is yellow. I don't feel moved by the shot though. The negative space although a good idea, is probably too much. Moving the lemon to the right some to add a little more balance on the left side would help equalize the framing. I think the horizontal placement is good. Your lighting is oversaturating the lemon. So much so that the details are lost. You may want to try bouncing the light off of a wall or ceiling, or diffusing it with a thing white paper or cloth. This will give you a more even lighting and allow more of the texture to show through. Your depth of field and post processing are both good.

I think that if you had more time to work on your lighting, the use of the mirror and the lemon could have created a wonderful shot, as it is, the lack of time available is evident.

This is a shot that may have a lot of meaning to the photographer, but on the general public it is hard to generate the same emotion. You have done well with your shot. You have good lighting and dof. Some things that you may want to concider with a shot like this. Try to include the whole statue in the shot. You have cropped out the base of this statue. By leaving the base and some of the table that it is on, you will balance the top and bottom of the picture. A side shot is also difficult to shoot. Your lighting is from directly in front of the statue causing hard shadows on the wings and back. If you turned the statue 45 degrees toward the camera and then had the light from the right side of the camera, you would include more detail of the statues face and wings and the lighting would be more even across the visible features.

Your current setup and lighting are good. You have enough light and interest to make this a nice shot. I feel that if you treated this as a human portrait and used techniques that work for them, you would really bring out the glory of this piece.

First off, congrats on the win! This is an excellent shot with many great qualities. First I like the feel of the background. The dark stripes with the brighter ones really have a nice feel to them. Not only do they create the nice reflection in your glass, but they give the shot depth. The glass is unique in shape and has a nice curve to it, this rhythm coupled with the reflection of the background in it draws my eye in. It is more art then photography with the refractions and curves presented. Working with light on glass is not an easily done. I did a glass shot for yellow and had some issues with mine. You have one bright spot on the neck of the glass, but not large enough to be a distraction. The thing that does catch my eye is that you may have oversharpened. You have some stair stepping on the edges of the glass. Other then that, your exposure is excellent!

I like it when a photographer creates more than just a photo, but a piece of art!

Gordon, this is a fine shot! Not sure what I can say that would help you improve upon this masterpiece. You have a perfect pan here. The type on the cab is crisp and in focus, yet you have the motion blur in the background. DOF and lighting are right on as there are no distracting highlights or dark areas. Working with a one chance shot it's a shame that the back of the cab is cut off, but it's nothing that distracts from the fact that everything in the shot works!

Great job!

You have done very well here with your humorous outlook on love. The only thing that I could say was in need of adjustment would be the lighting on the left sleeve, other then that, this photo is very professionally done. The curtain behind the stand has a very relaxing feel to it and makes this photo pop. The positioning of the clothing as well as hats are perfect. You have done something most find very hard to do, you've taken a humorous outlook and made it work. A lot of times the person may think it's cute, but the photo suffers and doesn't reach the target audience. Rest assured that you reached your audience.

Nice composition. The lighting is even across the shakers and no large glare or hot spot. The one thing that stands out is that the salt shaker is in focus while the pepper shaker is not. This throws off the symetry of the shot. When working with just two main subjects that are near identical, the eye wants to see them as such. I like the angle and tight crop presented here. One last thing to note, when working with shiny objects, make sure that finger prints and smudges are wiped clean prior to your shoot. Although very small, there is a smudge on the pepper shaker. Again, the eye is looking at this even though you may not realize it while viewing. Nice shot.
