Obviously this is important to the person, but I see politics instead of portrait when I view this shot. Her face becomes secondary, and I think it should be the primary focus.

I really don't think this is a portrait. They are experiencing their happiness, not sharing it with the viewer. Also in this case I think the background should also be in focus.
