This is really fascinating; it's like the amigos (especially center) are almost 3D. Breaking the rule of thirds works and the 3 verticals are offset nicely by the curve in the hill. I'm not sure if it's a contrast thing or sharpening, but white "specs", especially on hill, stand out quite a bit. Good choice for the action.

Week 9: In the Doorway

I prefer this version over the other. It's more intimate and mysterious. In this version I get the sense that she just walked into this doorway and is hesitant to continue. There's a big open space on the right - what lurks there? Only a child's mind knows.

Perspective is good to showoff those curves, and I like the conversion you did. I don't know if the smoothness is due to your pp, but the car seems a bit soft compared to the grass.

This has a lot going for it: fascinating subject, fantastic natural light, and strong B&W. I wish I had something like this to shoot, but not much like it around here. The others in your portfolio are just as interesting.

Week 7 - Ready to Set Sail Captain

The sky isn't an issue for me, I was immediately drawn to the man. This has a great oldtime look to it and that pose is perfect for this type of shot. This is one of those shots that makes me want to see more of him, more of the ship.

I really like how that diffuse glow adds a dreamy effect to this. The bokeh seems to point right to the flower, if that makes sense. Before I read the comment below I also wondered how a bit more contrast would make this look.

This picture is just full of emotion; the look on the mother's face, the daughter looking into her eyes, the hand held for reassurance. These are the types of captures that make me want to become a better photographer.

I agree about the toning; it's quite emotive as is.

Nice B&W conversion and I wouldn't have guessed that this was in a lobby; good job at taking advantage of the opportunity. I like the light falling on the baby's face, too bad about the light stripe in the background, but I'm sure you had no control over that!
