Float Onby SherwinJamesComment: Delightful pic, wish it had about 50% less of the white/light reflections. Particularly on the lower left. Still very nice. |

Fly Fishingby dsmilComment: Water feels secondary to me here but I really like the yellow line transcribing the picture. Wish the far bank wasn't so jumbly. |

The Water, The Road and the Walkwayby EssAreDubyaComment: Hi from the Critique Club,
This one caught my eye when looking through the entries. My first thought was that this is the type of picture where a little HDR would bring help bring out detail in the shadow areas.
I like the curves, subtle but certainly present. The warmth of the road contrasts nicely with the cool blue outside. IMHO, what really knocked you down(speculation here ;)) is the way the picture feels very heavy on the right side because of the shadow areas. Just a touch more detail would have improved the picture greatly.
And, maybe the curves were toooo subtle! To bring them more into focus, I suspect a vertical crop would have helped... just keep the middle third of the picture. Personally I don't find the noise to be any big deal.
Keep Shooting!

Escher's Mindby mhlambiComment: Hi from the Critique Club--
This is a tough one for me to critique---definitely outside of my style box. I react negatively to the grain and the overall lack of a focal point. In the context of the challenge, it's one of those images that meets the challenge, but not obvertly. Makes it tough to score when surrounded by 100's of other images with curvy roads, curvy paper, etc.
I wonder if a slightly different color palette would have been good- I find the green/beige to be dischordant. I suspect you shot this with your finished vision in mind and the choices you made with subject matter, composition, and processing were intentional.
It will be interesting to see more of your work.
regards,

Landscapeby JuliBocComment: I like it. It looks like a lake surrounded by a cornfield. 10 I really hope this one wins. Good luck! |
