Icon II (a tribute to Dr. Achoo, from the Soft Focus 2)by david_cComment: I'm touched. Too bad about your background. I know you can't control that. I got lucky enough to have a painted mural of trees and sky. This guy also looks like he could use a cheeseburger. ;) I'm not voting because it's too hard to not be biased. |

A Ships Demise - Tribute ala DrAchooby jenesisComment: You got the composition spot on, and i'm guessing you shot at dawn (with the nice salmon sky). Too bad about the tide. :( I'm not going to vote because it's too hard not to be biased. Personally I've tried to reproduce my own shot, and I haven't been able to do it yet. One thing I'm afraid of here is the water, I feel, plays a big role in my own picture and it's missing here. |

Monet's Water Liliesby DrAchooComment: The effect is done in-camera by spinning it on a tripod. The shot is 0.5 seconds, I believe and the spin is not nearly as much as you would think (maybe a few degrees). This left the interesting clear section in the middle which lends a focal point to a picture which would otherwise not have one. I boosted the colors quite a bit as this was shot on an overcast morning.
Yes, I self-DQ'd it at 16 votes and a 4.333. I was perhaps hasty and likely could have pulled at least a 5.3-5.5 with it. BUT, sometimes you get to like a picture and seeing it get hammered (it had two 1s, a 2 and a 3 in the first 16 votes) is like watching a child get beat up. You just want to pull them out of there. Well, live and learn. |

Half-Moon Bridgeby noranekoComment: Hey, adding a HM to your ribbon! Not bad! I love the picture, although I'm not a fan of the challenge in general. |
