A tribute to a yellow ribbon winner by Dr. Achoo in the Soft Focus II challenge:

Used the same post-processing technique: Gaussian Blur, faded. Not because I forgot my Cokin filter, but because I don't own one. :-P

Wow, I love how you caught the regal poise of this bald eagle. Sharpness and details especially on the textures of the neck feathers are spectacular! The main problem with this emulating the original is the background. It doesn't appear to have a natural blue sky/green tree background setting that the original appears to have. A zoo shot (which is what I think this may be) tends to be difficult in showcasing the beauty of an animal in it's natural surroundings. I know that you most likely are not able to get this majestic bird without the stone building backdrop so the key would be to increase the bokeh effect. Using an aperture of 2.4 - 4 and a fast shutter speed should blur more of the background - the trick would be to find a correct setting without loosing those wonderful details in your main subject. Aside from those points this is a great shot.

Good emulation. The head and background are a bit different but the pose is almost identical. Good job.

Well done. I find the difference in the eye color very interesting. I wonder about those white eyes in the original.

Nice try...the background is distracting.

Excellent capture. Too bad about the feather, or fluff, on the top of the beak though.

A great shot of the eagle. Not as soft as the Doc's, but very regal. I might have cloned out that thread (or feather string...whatever) above his beak.

I'm touched. Too bad about your background. I know you can't control that. I got lucky enough to have a painted mural of trees and sky. This guy also looks like he could use a cheeseburger. ;) I'm not voting because it's too hard to not be biased.

I think that some of the qualities of the original, such as the background and the softness throughout are not as evident here, though your photo on its own merits is impressive.
