Criticism; Just incorporating more of the branch, a more ground level angle perhaps, may have made this a more dramatic shot in my opinion. As for color vs b/w, not sure, I like the dramatic effect here in the b/w but wonder if the branch would have been even more prominent in color. |

Criticism; perhaps a little more 'balanced', or more empty space top right may have made this better, not sure. The same detail on the tip as is on the 'pod' and leaves, would be nice but may have been difficult. The little 'tips' of branches top left and the two 'white dots' back right, are a touch distracting and do detract, but not overly. Really like the colors and that you can see the branch clear enough under that dense foliage. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 09/09/2005 06:23:39 AM | The branch that feedsby cabaComment: 7 - Like this shot and the potential here. Criticism; the texture and patterns in the bark/wood could have been emphasized more with a closer focus/different angle, really making this more dramatic, in my opinion. The colors are nice, but again, just a different angle, or maybe even crop, could have brought all these aspects out more, including the 'character(s)' that can be seen in the shapes here. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 09/09/2005 06:20:20 AM | Fraxinusby jjbeguinComment: 8 - This is very nice. Criticism; Whilst I like the light shining through it is either too bright and thus detracting from the main subject, in my opinion, or else a different crop, cropping out half of the 'sunlight', may have made this a better shot. Like the toning, but the capture of the branches and the angle is what I like the best about this shot. 'Feels' like you are under an old and stately tree. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 09/09/2005 06:18:04 AM | The Labyrinthby rachaComment: 8 - Nice view, angle and capture. Criticism; just the focal point really and perhaps the contrast. More detail on the 'centre', where the eye is drawn, would have possibly made this even more unique in my opinion. I like the b/w (especially vs sepia in this shot), but wonder how the color would have looked, including if it would have 'allowed' the dramatic texture to come to the fore more. Perhaps a slight rotation or 'balancing', not sure. Also given the dark centre, not sure on the frame. |
| 09/09/2005 06:13:50 AM | New lifeby karldComment: 8 - This is very nice. Very nice capture, especially of the color. Criticism; though I do like the soft detail on the moss/lichen(?), even more detail on that texture would make that stand out even more in my opinion. I like the background of canopy. I like the crop, especially with the perspective bottom left, but maybe a slightly sharper angle, or just more detail as described above, including on the 'new growth', may have made this a better shot in my opinion. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 09/09/2005 06:06:30 AM | Climbing the sky ...by ProphecyComment: 8 - I like these types of tree shots, and think this one is very good. Criticism; difficult to say, but perhaps the angle, slightly more 'balanced' or straightened, dependent on tree of course. Just seems like the tree is naturally 'leaning' at the top and has been straightened pp. Also the focal point, I like where it is, but perhaps a slightly closer focus on the bottom of the frame, would have made this a better shot in my opinion, but then you may have lost as much detail at the top, not sure. The color of the sky/clouds looks very nice as a backdrop to the yellow/green foliage and complements it well. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 09/09/2005 06:01:47 AM | Reflection by tkjaerComment: 8 - Very nice and simple beauty. Water looks mirrored and calm. Criticism; difficult, maybe more 'empty space' in one of the corners, not sure. Perhaps sharper on the tip of the branch, but I think the focus is on the reflection, so might not have worked as well as what you have achieved. Nice soft lighting, A touch more color, whether in those leaves, or the incorporation of sunrise/set, may have added a little 'drama', but the simplicity is very nice as is. Not sure on the frame. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 09/09/2005 05:58:03 AM | Bareby LevTComment: 8 - Colors and the 'twisted silhouette' obviously really dramatize this shot. Criticism; I would like to see it more 'balanced', either with the main trunk to the left more and more 'branches' on the right, or perhaps centered. Very nice, even though I like the silhouetting, I wonder how this with a 'softened'/blurred effect would have worked. If possible, the only other thing would be if the whole of the canopy, at least on one side, could have been 'framed', may have also made this even more unique. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 09/09/2005 05:53:42 AM | Reaching Outby CamComment: 8 - One of the best captures seen in this Challenge of a tree branch in my opinion. I really like the angle. Criticism; perhaps, a little bit more 'balanced', with the 'eye' maybe bottom left and the branch going more diagonally up to top right, a touch more detail too in the texture, would have made this a better photograph in my opinion. Perhaps sepia instead of b/w too, but not sure. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
