Hi Cam,
I have no idea if you have chosen a real book or not, but the photo fits your title well and I believe that a book has been written on this subject, so what the heck.
Not being a car buff, I know a clean chrome engine is what you want. You have definitely provided a great photo of a classic Corvette engine. I have though of some ideas of what it might look at different cropping or a bit more of the engine, but your cut is fine and doesn't effect the shot.
The chrome is really nice, especially not seeing any distraction in the reflection of the chrome, which can ruin a shot. I like the bluish-sky reflection, it helps.
Your contrasts and shading are very good and dof is right on. I like the red wire modifier, the color adds a nice touch and probably is needed. Also, the wires take your eyes off the photo, but bring it back nicely on top. This keeps the eye toward the center, this to me is great.
The only downfall, which is minimal, is the interest. I is not the most interesting subject, especially to an engine dummy like me, but you made the shot fit and made it look very well.
Hope this helps a bit.

Hi Tom,
First your shot meets the challenge well with your title and edge of fire.
Your photo has great lines. You led our eyes right to what your subject is, the line of fire and possibly unconciously the word smokey. Having the line located where you did, is what I like the most, besides the nice contrasts.
Your dof is right on. The focus on the close sheet and off focus on background is perfect.
I have nothing negative to say about the shot.
Keep up the great work.

Howdy Jon,
I have to agree with some of the comments given to you. A child or children in the shot would have added a lot to the title you chose. I still believe the photo fits the title and challenge.
I love old trains and you have captured this one quite well. The train appears to be very dark and lighter parts of the train are hard to photo, do to over exposure. You handled this well. The bell, lights, name, number, etc...work well.
The only negative, I can see is the background, which would be hard to change. The ceiling, including air/heating structures are not modifying the train and is somewhat distracting the shot. I'm not sure if that could have been change by shooting at a different angle, but I always try to shoot as many angle as posible to avoid distraction from the subject.
I hope this makes sense. I like the shot and hope to see many more of you photographs.

Hi Jeff,
First, I think a shot of Mother Mary is quite sacred and the flowers and candle represent the site as being usage by believers for prayer/meditation. So, the photo meets the challenge quite well.
The photo is excellent in colors, dof and contrasts. The shading of the white marble is also perfect.
After looking at the photo, I see no way to improve it. The cropping is very good. I have no problem with the roof and it is somewhat nice because it gives a dimension of being in a garden by a church.
Keep up the great work.
