Oh, this was hard. I was thinking about the idea whole week, and I bought the mouse only for the photoshoot. It was ok to take care about all the lights, background and all the technical stuff, but as you can imagine, it's not easy to persuade mouse into standing for long time quietly, still and looking cute and sexy :) The first day failed. But on the other day, she was finally like at home, stagefright was gone and we had a very nice shooting. :) I like the photo and I like my new pet. You can't get rid of such a good model, can you?

Totally cool. At first I thought this was an edit. But then I read the description and developed a whole lot more appreciation for this photo.

Greetings from the CC, obviously a loved shot and a deserved ribbon winner. I think you did very well to get the mouse to stay in that egg shell first of all. Of course it is a good shot as is, but here is my opinion what perhaps could improve it. The egg holder could possibly be black (or white) to give a more monochromatic color scheme matching the mouse or perhaps even cropped out, I find the large blue section a little distracting, then again you could try it in b&w also. The mouse could also be facing the camera, this I think would be the biggest improvement possible. Perhaps cropping a little more on the right moving the subject a bit more into that corner would make him seem like he has more room on the left to 'look into'. These are just some thoughts, to give something to think about, very nice job and congrats on the ribbon!! Well done!

Egg could have been sharper, and if mouse was facing the camera this could have been a great shot. Nevertheless, it does show a bit of potential. Don't get discouraged man, we are all in this together!

By far, the best 'set-up' shot in the challenge. The concept is excellent and all teh technicaals are perfect. I would like to have seen this more from the front of the mouse. Seeing more of the mouse's face would be better (for me, anyway). Great colors, focus, lighting, etc all perfect! Great job and good luck.

Very nice work! Eggshell is perfect, could be even with sharper remains to define harmony and also contrast of shapes. Backround could be more dramatic. I am just sorry, I can't vote.

That would definitely be a surprise - and is very cute. I like the detail on this shot - how clear the cracks in the shell are, the mouse's fur, the whiskers visible against the background. Very clean - no extra clutter - and very crisp and clear. Easy to believe it's right in front of me.

Creative and attractive image, technically very well done. The juxtaposition of elements works very well here. Maybe if it looked more like the mammal was hatching, or it was being served to a diner it would convey surprise better. As is, it is just a nice setting for a cute photo.

Very well executed. The lighting is superb, the simple colours and background make this into very good photo. My only suggestion (and I know this was probably hard) would be to make the hamster face towards the viewer as he is saying Whats Up?... 10

That would certainly surprise me to open my hard boiled egg and find a little mouse, LOL! Very cute I"m gave this a 9 but raised to a 10 but I would have really liked to see the little guy looking at the camera, it would have added that extra little touch.

Cute and funny. Wish the mouse were facing the camera, he does look pretty mystfied from what I can see. Those are a great set of whiskers - wish we could see them better against the background - highlight them with lighting or use a dark background?

Nice clear picture. I think the mouse should have looked towards the camera. Maybe include a hand and a spoon to express the surprise element even stronger ? 7

Cute, but totally improbable. Unless you're saying the mouse is surprised to be stuck in the egg for reasons he can't possibly understand.

Beautiful shot and exceptional lighting. I even like the way it starts to go grey at the top, it adds depth. Fits the challenge perfectly, got to be in the running for a ribbon.

:-) Really like this one. Think th eidea of cropping out the bottom of the egg cup is nice. The only thing I would have liked to see would have been the egg shell in better condition. 9/10 from me.

Lighting, perfect. Background, perfect. (I really like how it grades to a slightly darker tone at the top!) Composition: actually, I think there are a few things to be done about the positioning of the subject in the frame, but I can't quite place my finger on what it is. Maybe I'd like to see the whole blue ramikin. Idea: perhaps the best of the challenge. Overall, this is a 10 from me.
