Congrads on your win. I thought this photo was great. Reminded me of some of the photos I have been looking at as I viewed other photographers work for the tribute challenge. This is timeless, and works on many levels.

Keep on trying. It is probably true that some felt it did not single out enough, though there are a number of images that only had one subject in it without the crowd. I think maybe a bit closer would have helped, and a bit better focus.

This is one hard guy to get. I know, I have tried. Nice stop action, but even so it still came out a bit too soft in focus. The leaf on the bottom seems to really be sharply focused, so
I am trying to figure out why the flowers didn't come out as sharp. Maybe a smaller aperture opening would have given the flowers just as much clarity.

Love the contrast between the color image and the background. It could use a bit more cropping, though. The mountain is nice, but it wasn't needed to convey this wonderful image. I kind of like the village idea, which you overlooked in the picture because you were drawn to the mountain.

This was such a well lit image. The setting is really great and I love the misty air surrounding the subject. Good detail.

Thankyou all for your kind words. I got my first goal reached for 2006, to make it to 80%. Also my second goal, to break a six. My last goal is to keep it consistantly in the 40-50% range overall. Of course, that has already gone by the board, but maybe if you take all the scores from 2006, it will be there.

I have to admit when I did this photo, I pretty much took it out of a recipe book and tried copying it. I even painted a pepper shaker just like the one in the book, and I edged a napkin with yellow paint, and painted some wooden utensils ivy green. A few things I forgot (like a little grated cheese on the side, and some over the food) but generally it came out nearly the same tones and placement as the original image. It was absolutely delicious, but I am a veggie freak anyway.

I would love to be able to get shots like this, but any mall I go into in my area, they confiscate your camera. Love the balls floating. To make them appear even more suspended, I would suggest that you clone out all the strings holding them so that they can't be seen. You did a pretty good job of it in the closest balls, but the ones in the back have real tell tale signs of strings. Nice saturation and color.

Excellent presentation. I like the use of the mat on this photo, and the play of color use. Great detail on the food, as well.

Seems a bit overexposed. The white flecks detract from the general appetizing look of the rolls. Perhaps you used too bright a light. Maybe a lower wattage, or positioning the light further away would have softened the flecks. Also, even just placing a handkerchief over the front of the light might have taken some of the sharp highlights away, or perhaps turning it away from the food and bouncing it off of a white board. Try different lighting ideas to get the right balance.
