Another image I think is great as it is. I don't need the full face - I have enough to build the rest in my mind - isn't that what photography is about - the viewer 'finishing the image?' In voting, I think this image also suffers from the challenge it was entered in and would have scored much higher in a better suited challenge. DPC voters are a literal bunch. If it doesn't punch them in the eye, most don't take the time to consider possibilities. This image is full of possibilities. Very well taken and edited.

this probably would have been a 6 in a different challenge. People were hunting for objects (like people) that they considered 'not stationary.' That's were your 1s and 2s came from. Without those, you probably would have been over. As for the picture itself, I disagree with the lone commenter wanting more detail - I think its great just the way it is. A little too centered for my tastes but the image is really well taken. The color tones work very nicely together; the lights are dispersed well enough through the blacks to keep the image balanced. Excellent job!

I like the grain, I like the composition, the POV, and the colors and tones used. I hate the overwhelming frame which to me, by its size, has equal weight with the subject.

The color noise in this image is really not enhancing anything in the image - it is muddying it up a little. Beautiful bird and good composition.
