Sorry to hear about your accident, Jeanne. Sounds like a bummer of a bad break. I hope you heal swiftly and well.

This is REALLY nice. Exceptionally well-seen and well-composed, great use of defining light.

This is totally excellent, in large measure due tot he fact that the reaching branches have somehow managed to define a zigzag path through the sky towards the buildings; there's no interlacing of the trees. Also, the preservation of the fine twig detail is remarkable without use of sophisticated sharpening algorithms. If I had a quibble here, it would be that the image is leaning half a degree to the right, but how you gonna figure that setting up in the dark? And the rules won't let you rotate. So... Good job!

Jeff,

this is a moody shot with a lot of potential, much of it unrealized. The composition is an issue, because it is very static, with the lighthouse too centered for the powerful, turbulent context of the image. It's also very fuzzy-looking. There doesn't seem to be much you can do about that, but you CAN reframe the image if you like to give more dynamic power to the composition, something like this... I have also added in some USM and adjusted the levels for more pop.

I just ran across this today. I'm sorry I never commented on it; it's quite beautiful. I bet you'd have bagged a 6.5+ if you'd cropped it square and shown a 640x640 of the bristles with much less background. Was it really shot with the 15mm?
